Jeff Monson looks to impress at Strength & Honor 4 on April 30th

Darren S. Barcomb

Jeff “The Snowman” Monson (40-11) is scheduled to take to the mat for Switzerland based Strength and Honor Championship (SHC) on April 30th. The Washington born wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu grappler will face off against French fighter Moise Rimbon (17-9-3) in Geneva at SHC 4.

Monson, who trains with American Top Team, has fought for many organizations throughout his career including the UFC, Pride and Dream. The 40 year old is currently riding a 6 fight win streak, and last saw action in January when he submitted Lee Mein by way of a 1st round guillotine choke-out in Manitoba. Always active, Monson fought 9 times in 2010, going 7-2 over that stretch. His notable career victories have come over Roy Nelson, Ricco Rodriguez, and Travis Fulton. Although not victorious, he had hard fought battles with Pedro Rizzo (twice), Josh Barnett, Tim Sylvia, Forrest Griffin, and Chuck Liddell, going the distance with all of them. Opposing “The Snowman” will be Moise Rimbon, who is also a savvy veteran, having competed in K-1, Bodogfight, M-1 Global, Pancrase, and KSW. He last fought in Germany back in November of 2010, winning via a 1st round keylock submission over Autimio Antonio. Rimbon, who turns 34 shortly before the bout, is currently riding a three fight win streak and would love to upset Monson. Monson should be able to easily control this matchup with his superior grappling and submission skills. He is 5’9” and built like a brick wall. Also, his striking and shooting game has become top notch over the years since his debut in 1997. Monson has bounced from one organization to another in recent years chasing challenges and paychecks. Rimbon should not present much of a challenge for him and should be another easily climbed stepping stone. Fans of Monson love that he fights regularly, but they long to see him back in the limelight of a major promotion. There is little doubt that he could match up well against the best heavyweights in the UFC or Strikeforce. Until that day comes, his fans seem content to see him pop up whenever and wherever he does. Strength & Honor has not yet announced the remainder of the card, but if previous shows are any indication, SHC 4 should be a hard hitting night of fun. SHC 4 will be shown live online at http://www.strengthhonor.com

Rimbon kämpfte schon überall in Europa.
